I really like your use of diptychs. I am interested in hearing how they were received in your critique. The only thing i would say is that you would have to be extremely choosy about what you put next to what. When i look at them i immediately want to find the connection between to the two. On the two horizontal pairs i see almost a detail vs. whole shot relationship. I don't know if this was the idea you were going for but its almost as if you choose one image that shows the space you are shooting in as a whole and then accompanied it with a smaller detail shot of an aspect that you maybe found important of significant for some reason. This idea doesn't come across so much in the vertical set as one image appears to be an interior while the other one seems to be an exterior. However, the first thought i get is that the window on the top image most likely looks in on the interior depicted in the second. Now all of this is not to say that i dislike those kinds of relationships because i think in the examples you have shown that they work well.
I am very excited about your diptych ideas. I know that the process of choosing them is going to be hard though. From reading Lilia's comment I see where she is going. Having a diptych is sometimes going to harbor ideas of full vs. part of a space, as well as conflicting spaces. The images you have look really nice, but I also think that many of your images can stand alone, and if you do have larger images, standing alone might benefit. I hope that you are doing well with the choices and I'm sorry that this blog didn't suit better (I know how you feel) but feedback is very important and you should just command it if you really need it.. don't be shy girl! But anyway... good luck with everything, I know that you have many choices to make and I anticipate they will be good ones I have no doubt.
I was in your wip review last week and I know we talked about the diptychs. I think they are a great presentation method, and this is a good opportunity to really take a good hard look at all the photos you have. I think the use of diptychs will work out great for your work, but I do think that the images should be related like I mentioned. Like a "zoomed in vs. zoomed out" type of relationship. However you make them cohisive, I can't wait to see; cause the diptychs you showed look great already.
I like the idea of diptychs a lot! I really love your use of lighting in all of your photographs. I think the way you are capturing these things is truly making these abandoned places so beautiful!!
